The MUW Culinary Arts Institute

The Mississippi University for Women Culinary Arts Institute is a ground-up construction facility consisting of a total of 43,040 square feet.  The lobby construction is especially notable with (9) 27’ high Certainteed Wood Grille Cloud Ceilings that conform to the radius of the exterior curtainwall and metal stud framing façade.  In the demonstration classroom, the ceiling construction was made up of (9) acoustical clouds with knife-edge axiom trim to complement the edge of the clouds, and was constructed above a stepped raised seating area.  Furdowns were combined and constructed into a multi-coffered ceiling system in the event room.  Prep kitchens consisted of 2’x2’ acoustical ceilings, accompanied by quarry tile flooring and subway tile backsplash that surrounded all the walls.  Dining and Conference rooms were aesthetically designed and constructed to feature acoustical cloud ceilings with light coves, providing a unique finish look.  For walls and Ceilings together, there were 5,565 linear feet of walls framed with over 150,000 square feet of drywall installed.  A total of 32,300 square feet of acoustical ceilings were installed, along with 12,500 square feet of wall tile, and nearly 40,000 square feet of finished flooring.
